Deloitte: Vouchers Popular Among Consumers Looking to Dine Out

Nearly two-thirds of consumers from across the UK use a voucher for quick service and casual dining, while 48% will use a voucher in a bar or pub and 50% in a fine dining establishment. This according to findings from the latest Taste of the Nation survey conducted by Deloitte and BDRC Continental.

Among 18-34 year olds, the largest market for eating out, 67% use vouchers compared to 58% of 35-54 year olds and 51% of those over 55 years. Overall, the survey found over half of consumers or 59% have used a special offer voucher when eating out.

Ernst & Young: Moderate Growth Expected for Global Auto Industry in 2012

Moderate growth is forecast for the global automotive market in 2012 in keeping with the industry?s limited expansion of around three percent in 2011. Accenture Federal Services has been awarded a Blanket Purchase Agreement and four task orders from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to install an enterprise resource planning system to support the FBI?s Human Resources Information System. The BPA was awarded under the General Services Administration IT schedule that provides technology support services to the FBI. The Canadian market for Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) reached only $ 2 billion for 2011, its third lowest total in a decade, according to the annual PwC review of IPO activity.

Despite a mid-year growth spurt, 2011 saw the total number and value of IPOs decline compared to the previous year. The 61 new issues on all Canadian exchanges in 2011 generated just over $ 2 billion compared to 73 IPOs worth more than $ 5.5 billion in 2010.

OAI: Indiana Auto Insurance Bill Would Help Identify Uninsured Drivers

A bill being considered by Indiana lawmakers that would require insurers to notify state transportation officials when they cancel private auto policies could make it more difficult for residents to skirt the state?s mandatory coverage requirements, according to Online Auto Insurance (OAI).

The proposed legislation should be of interest to Hoosier State residents who are having difficulty keeping up with payments on their policies or are planning on buying a no down payment auto insurance policy in order to register a vehicle and then canceling it once registration is in place.

Like most states, Indiana requires that motorists purchase a minimum amount of liability insurance to pay for any damages they may cause behind the wheel. State law mandates that drivers carry enough coverage to pay for up to $ 25,000 in bodily injury to one person, as much as $ 50,000 per accident and up to $ 10,000 in property damage.

A bill currently before a state Senate committee would require that insurers send cancellation notices within 10 business days to policyholders whose coverage is being cut off and to the state Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

The recipients of these notices would then have 20 days to inform the bureau of how they intend to satisfy the state?s financial responsibility requirements going forward.

State officials would be allowed to suspend the vehicle registrations of drivers who get such notices and do not respond to the bureau within 20 days.

With the economy still sluggish, many people have had a hard time keeping up with monthly premiums. But OAI points out that, while payments can be expensive, the cost of flouting state coverage requirements can be far greater.

OAI advises consumers in Indiana and other states to make sure they have coverage in place before they get behind the wheel.

Chain of Hope Jamaica is working towards building a sustainable paediatric cardiac programme at the Bustamante Hospital for Children, which will serve as a center of excellence for the Caribbean. The project is broad in scope and includes the construction of a 10 bed ICU, a badly needed catheter laboratory and an operating theatre. In addition to the building and equipment, the project involves the extensive training of medical and support staff to increase the pool of available health service providers with required specialized skills. The impressive project is estimated to cost US$ 5M and will benefit over 400 Jamaican children per year that are born with heart disease and children here in other parts of the Caribbean that require intensive care.
