Insure.com?s 2011 Santa Index: Santa Claus Worth Almost $133,000 This Year

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

Foster City, CA (PRWEB) December 13, 2011

The 2011 Santa Index shows that the fantastic Old St. Nick?s efforts to spread joy are worth $ 132,950 this year, according to Insure.com research using wage data compiled by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

The Santa Index lists the many duties we typically associate with Santa Claus and measures what it would cost to hire others to perform similar functions.

?We associate Santa with Christmas, of course, but one look at his resume will tell you that he?s truly a character for all seasons,? says Emmet Pierce, managing editor of Insure.com. ?Santa, as the story goes, was a multitasker before it became trendy: animal trainer, toy factory executive, aerial navigator, labor negotiator and an ambassador for the holiday spirit — this guy does it all.?

Here are some highlights from the Santa Index, based on BLS wage data for the closest matching occupations which we?d attribute with his persona:

????To cover his administrative duties, Insure.com gave him the title of manufacturing executive. Under the BLS description, hourly pay and days of work per year (364) bring his pay for this task to about $ 109,841.
????Fifteen days of professional shopping come in at a cost of $ 2,388. After all, even Santa and his elves need to buy some of their gifts.
????Santa really knows his way around wrapping paper and bows. Add in 14 days of professional wrapping and his annual worth rises by another $ 1,786.
????Finding someone else to read children?s letters would cost $ 1,656 annually.
????Retail store visits to meet with children would cost another $ 2,648.
????Giving Santa credit for his compulsive list checking, Insure.com threw in a conservative $ 510.
????Managing elves isn?t easy. Factor in his labor negotiation skills and Santa would clear another $ 5,074 annually.

Other jobs associated with the Santa Claus character include piloting his sleigh, taking care of reindeer and going down chimneys.

The full 2011 Santa Index can be found at Insure.com?s article, ?The Santa Index: Santa?s duties worth $ 132,950.?

Why Do Some People Get Sick After Getting Their Annual Flu Shot? Dr. Larry Gertler, Nationally Known Kinesiologist and Teacher, Tells Why

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011

Oakland, CA (PRWEB) December 09, 2011

?Every year in the Fall and early Winter, the medical community begin touting the benefits of the latest flu shot, yet before you go and get inoculated, people might want to investigate some facts? says Dr. Gertler.

Dr. Gertler points out that countless studies show that there are many folks who react to flu shots and other vaccination in a negative way and that this reaction can actually weaken the immune system rather than strengthen and protect it.

?All vaccines produce antibodies? says Dr. Gertler, ?and actually, they produce circulating immune complexes called CICs. Your immune system ends up attacking these CICs. When it does, it deflects its energy from its more important job – protecting you from more harmful viruses and bacteria. Like fighting a war on two fronts, your body is similarly splitting its resources in an attempt to defend you. In other words, your immune system is trying to protect you from the vaccine by creating an allergic reaction to it. If another virus or bacteria comes along, there are fewer lymphocytes left to kill it?.

Dr. Richard Moskowitz also agrees that immunizations can lead to certain types of chronic diseases, in his book, The Case Against Immunization. ?Far from providing a genuine immunity?,? says Dr. Moskowitz, ?vaccines may act by actually interfering with or suppressing the immune response.? Dr. Moskowitz indicates that the rise in auto immune diseases is an automatic result of injecting live virus and foreign antigens into children. As a result, the body can no longer tell the difference between good and bad cells and starts attacking itself, producing such auto immune responses as rheumatoid arthritis, chronic fatigue, immunity deficiency syndrome, and other degenerative diseases.

?I have personally treated many people who have gotten severe cases of the flu after they have taken a flu shot? says Dr. Gertler ?and, in my many years as a Chiropractic physician, I have concluded that it is better to boost one?s cell-mediated immunity through natural methods than to rely totally on the anti bodies in any flu vaccine.?

Of course, the decision to take or not to take a flu shot is an individual decision ? and should be an informed decision. ?No matter their choice,? says Dr. Gertler, ?if someone experiences flu like symptoms or contracts the flu, they are encouraged to call me at the Center for Holistic Health (510) 652-2302 and I can do a kinesiological flu treatment protocol which, in most cases, will have them back on their feet within 48 hours.?

Dr. Larry Gertler, M.Ed. D.C., is a nationally known holistic chiropractor and teacher. He is available for in-office visits and telephone consultations (for California residents only). Dr. Gertler offers free 20 minute new patient consultations and discounts to new patients for comprehensive exams. The Center for Holistic Health (also known as Advanced Chiropractic) is located in the Rockridge District of Oakland, California, at 5273 College Avenue. Please call ahead to schedule your free 20 minute consultation or comprehensive examination. Dr. Gertler?s phone number is (510) 652-2302. Insurance Lawyer Offers Free Seminar to Educate Insurance Brokers about Filing Disability Insurance Claims

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) December 05, 2011

Eric Ratinoff, an insurance lawyer and partner at Sacramento personal injury law firm Kershaw, Cutter & Ratinoff, LLP, will host a free seminar for insurance brokers and their clients next month. The class aims to equip insurance brokers and policyholders with information that will help them prepare claims in the event of a career ending disability.

“The last thing a person needs to hear when facing a life altering illness is that their insurance claim was denied,” states Eric Ratinoff, “and the first person they will turn to is the one who sold them the policy.”

While insurance brokers may see insurance from the front end sales perspective, Ratinoff takes a behind the scenes look. His one-hour class will discuss the documents needed to file a successful claim, what total disability means in terms of “own occupation” vs. “any occupation,” the insurance company’s legal obligations, as well as their defenses to coverage, and what to do if the insurance company refuses to pay the claim in whole or in part.

“All too often insurance companies enhance the bottom line by charging policyholders large premiums while rejecting valid claims,” he adds. “But the insurance company absolutely is not allowed to put profits over people. It’s people over profits – and it’s too bad that they need to be reminded of this time and time again.”

The class is eligible for one hour of continuing education credit from the California Department of Insurance. It is free, but space is limited. Those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP by calling Taryn Smith at 916.448.9800, or emailing tsmith(at)kcrlegal(dot)com.

Kershaw, Cutter & Ratinoff represents injured plaintiffs in automobile and motorcycle accidents, traumatic brain injuries, defective products, dangerous drugs & medical devices, as well as insurance bad faith matters. Founding partner Eric Ratinoff has successfully tried and settled numerous cases on behalf of his clients, earning large recoveries in cases involving disability, health, auto, property, long term care, business, fire & casualty, commercial and life insurance policies. Mr. Ratinoff is AV Rated through Martindale Hubbell (its highest rating). He has also been named a Northern California Super Lawyer for 2010 and 2011.

Saturday, December 3rd, 2011

New York, New York (PRWEB) December 01, 2011

An attack in a Jewish neighborhood of Brooklyn is being investigated as a New York hate crime by the New York Police Department’s Hate Crimes Task Force, reported NY1 on November 12.

Vandals set three cars ablaze in Midwood on November 11. A sidewalk and park benches nearby also were spray-painted with anti-Semitic graffiti, including Nazi swastikas. “KKK” was painted on a van, according to the New York Daily News. (11/11)

?Anti-Semitism has no place in today?s world. Hate crimes are incompatible with the values of New York and the values of America,? said New York civil rights violation lawyer David Perecman, founder of The Perecman Firm, one of New York?s civil rights violation law firms.

The incident is among a number of other recent hate crimes in New York City targeting Jews. Two other swastikas were found in Brooklyn, reported the New York Daily News. Also, reported the NYDN, a subway sign was defaced and a Jewish man recalled being ?threatened by two hate-spewing men? in Midwood.

Recently, the Anti-Defamation League released a report of anti-Semitism statistics for New York City and New York State. In 2010, the ADL counted 133 anti-Semitic incidents citywide. This was one more recorded incident than the year before.

In New York City, the most anti-Semitic incidents were reported in Brooklyn, which had 53. Manhattan was next with 52, according to the ADL.

?Hate crimes are absolutely unacceptable,? said Perecman, a New York civil rights???????? violation lawyer for over 30 years. ?No one should have to fear for their safety in New York because of their religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, or age.?
